mark has used a camera since the
age of 18. he first developed and
printed many black and white films,
then digital arrived and the
possibilities seemed endless.
during this time he graduated
goldsmiths in 1991, with a first
in fine art textiles, made
furniture, designed, art edited
art directed many leading monthly
magazines at ipc.
he then chose a career where
whatever he created, he created
alone. when his paintings resonate
they do so deeply, choosing to use
self refurbished, used frames,
mark brings two disparate pieces
(the frame and the painting)
together to make a whole.
“mark paints layers of graphic
architectural detail on hardboard
to create ‘muted urbanscapes’ which
reference a mixture of photography,
memory and imagination”
